This is the Sky Show from December 30th 1961
Not long after I began giving the regular Sky Show programs at the Adler Planetarium it became
obvious that many people did not attend the lectures because of the age limit for admittance.
I suggested an early Sky Show on Saturdays where there was no age limit for children to attend.
Just after starting there is a short interruption because a large group was a few minutes late and needed to be seated.
If you have heard any of my recordings you know that the first half is basically the same,
an introduction to the Museum, the Planetarium Machine and the Chicago sky.
You can move the slider to about 25 minutes the point where the Christmas Star portion begins.

In the 1962-63 time frame the Chicago Planetarium Society submitted a Grant Application to NASA
The objective was to develop a pilot program that would encourage Junior High and High School students
to become interested in Astronomy and Space related topics.
At this time the United States has too few students choosing college programs that would be needed
as our Space program advanced.
